Many craft-beer specialists make due with lackluster bar fare to accompany their drinks, so we were pleasantly suprised by the high standards of the kitchen at On the Table. A sister shop of the Good Beer Faucets bar in Shibuya, they also serve several of their own beers, custom-brewed under the GBF brand in collaboration with a few established microbreweries. Altogether there are more than twenty craft beers on tap, including a handful of US and European imports.
The food menu is built around creative and casual international fare - carpaccios, paellas, grilled meats and ample vegetables. Our juicy roast lamb was as succulent as advertised, paired with an assertive chive sauce and tasty greens. Tiny grilled lamb chops were a nice contrast in flavor, prepared rare vs the well-done roast. The ten-vegetable quinoa salad was studded with delicious vegetable morsels, while the potato salad was more exciting than average thanks to the addition of edamame beans and a raw egg.
Beers here come in only one size, with varying prices - generally Y700-1000 for a medium-size glass. Budget around Y2500-3500 for dinner with a couple of beers, or several beers with some food.
