Hot dogs at the ballpark are always a winning combination, so this Tokyo Dome mini-branch of the popular German bar-restaurant serves up German hot dogs in novel variations like Pizza Genovese and Cheese-Mushroom. The sauerkraut version is particularly good, with hefty helpings of two colors of sauerkraut and tangy mustard complementing the very meaty sausage.
Other snack options include curry wurst, schnitzel burgers, fried chicken and German potatoes. The shop's four beer taps dispense imported Bitburger lager plus three of Schmatz's own German-inspired craft beers. These included a dunkel, a pale ale and a pilsner during a recent visit; there's also a bottled weitzen from Schmatz.
Draft beers come in two sizes (14 oz and 16 oz), and start at Y650, while bottled beers are Y750. There's cozy indoor seating and plenty of outdoor tables in the oddly named "Hi! Every Valley" corner of Tokyo Dome City.
