Craft Beer Market: Kanda
Craft Beer Market Kanda: Beer bar

One thing we like about this craft-beer bar chain, besides the reasonable prices and broad beer selection, is that fact that each branch has its own distinctive food menu. The theme here at CBM's tenth branch is lamb, and the kitchen goes all out with nearly a dozen lamb-centered dishes including their specialty of the house - bite-size grilled lamb chops for just Y480 apiece.

After your initial mini-chop it's worth exploring the rest of the lamb menu at your leisure. The Thai lamb curry packs a spicy punch, and the lamb-cilantro gyoza dumplings are a refreshingly novel take on this everyday dish. The lamb nikomi is mildly flavored but quite satisfying, with big chunks of meat, turnips and lotus root in a stew of spiced lentils. Other tempting choices include lamb-mushroom ajillo, lamb-ricotta omelettes, lamb-bacon potato salad and lamb ravioli.

The dining room is similar to other CBM branches - loud and energetic, with most seating at high tables and a couple of counter areas. We found the stools at the counter to be more uncomfortable than average, but on the other hand table seating seems to be more spacious and less cramped than at other downtown branches. Service is friendly and efficient. Prices for the thirty beers on tap are the same as at other branches - US pints are just Y900 and glasses Y600, with a Y300 table charge.
