Okayama's Miyashita Sake Brewery is a pioneer on the Japanese craft-beer scene, launching their line-up of Doppo beers way back in 1995. This small taproom-kiosk run by the brewery is conveniently located in an Aeon shopping mall near Okayama Station, with five taps dispensing a rotating selection of Doppo's beers.
The beers are very reasonably priced - cheaper even than at the brewery - although they're served here in plastic cups rather than glassware. Servings are in three sizes, with three-part and five-part tasting flights available. Some highlights (when available) include Doppo's unfiltered pilsner, rice lager and weizen.
Sake and shochu produced by Miyashita are also available, poured individually and in tasting flights. Since the kiosk is located in Aeon's food court, you can accompany your drinks with food from any of the nearby stalls.
You'll also find a wide range of Doppo's beers in bottles, both here and in the supermarket downstairs in the mall.
